Farnborough Football Club

A winning partnership on and off the pitch

Tratech Consulting partnered with Farnborough Football Club on several initiatives to shape the club’s strategic direction for the 24/25 season and beyond.

These initiatives included supporting a business case for a 4G pitch installation, improving the match-day experience for fans, and providing recommendations for club improvements.

Challenges

Operating part-time, Farnborough Football Club had faced financial challenges typical of non-league football. Competing against better-funded clubs and located near larger teams like Aldershot Town and Woking F.C., the club’s fan base remains small but growing. Increasing attendance, reducing costs, and enhancing the match-day experience were key areas of focus during the engagement.

Solutions

Conducted a feasibility study for the commercial viability of a 4G pitch, consulting local businesses, schools, and societies on potential hire interest and acceptable rates. Published a match-day experience questionnaire to gather feedback from fans. Held discussions with club directors on CAPEX and OPEX improvements, identifying opportunities to enhance the club’s operations.
