Major Fuel Retailer

Empowering Global Sustainability Through Expert Solutions

A major fuel retailer sought to modernise their global operations by replacing outdated pump, in-store, and head office software across nine countries.

The goal was to improve customer experience by integrating fuel pumps, point-of-sale systems, loyalty programmes, and back-office solutions into their legacy systems, including unmanned forecourts.

Tratech Consulting provided expertise to implement a new solution stack, introducing a 3rd party managed hosting solution to transform the retailer's operations.

Challenges

Outdated technology: Ageing pump-to-ePOS systems caused poor customer experience, with employees manually updating prices and using Excel spreadsheets for in-store operations.

Lack of visibility: There needed to be more enterprise-wide performance visibility across markets.

Complex integration: Integrating new technology with older, monolithic systems in a heavily regulated market was a key challenge.

Solutions

Tratech implemented a comprehensive technology stack, including Wayne pumps, Wincor Nixdorf’s NAMOS Compact, and RedPrairie’s Enterprise Store Operation (ESO). The system integrated with legacy systems such as fuel pricing, SAP, financial gateways, and supply chains. Real-time transaction data, API calls, and a cloud-based platform underpinned the new architecture, which included SQL server upgrades, web servers, app servers, and load balancers.

Results

The modernisation and implementation of new technologies and streamlined operations delivered significant benefits, including increased customer satisfaction, higher sales throughput, and improved staff satisfaction. This project highlights Tratech's ability to deliver complex, global solutions that drive operational efficiency and business growth.
